The planned new Lord of the Rings films will begin with Bilbo revealing that there were actually two One rings to rule them all.
“Frodo comes back from the Undying lands and feels a lot better after a few years of undying, and he visits Bilbo,” explains director Stewart James.
“They’re chilling and Biblo goes to get some, you know, hobbit wine or whatever and as he’s looking in the back of the cupboard, he’s like ‘Oh no Frodo, I forgot, actually Gollum had two rings that he gave me.’
“Just at that moment, right, Gandalf’s walking past and he’s like ‘what’s up?’ and Bilbo and Frodo are like ‘dude we’ve got a problem.’”
Frodo and Gandalf then have to go round and convince everyone to go on one last quest to destroy the other One ring.
“Yeah, it’s great, we see what everyone’s been up to. Aragorn’s married and he’s got loads of kids so he’s totally up for a quest and Arwen is like ‘no way are you leaving me with all these kids’ and he’s like ‘laters.’
“Sam is always up for a quest, and he’s got this idea that him and Frodo need to share a sleeping bag, which is hilarious. Gimli’s got all fat and drunk so they have to dry him out and Merry and Pippin are on the run after their ponzi scheme goes under.
“Ultimately though, Frodo and Gandalf get the band back together and off they go again. Ents, orcs, those ghosts on horses. Everyone’s back, it’s going to be great.”
Lord of the Other Ring is expected to begin filming next year.
