JJ Abrams has released a new image from the upcoming Star Wars film Rise of Skywalker that features Dominic Monaghan, suggesting that the film could be set in the same universe as the Lord of the Rings stories.
It is currently unknown if the film will feature hobbits in space or if the rebels will be visiting Middle-Earth to form an alliance with the hobbits to defeat Kylo Ren, who may or may not be in league with Sauron.
“At first, I don’t know, I wasn’t sure,” admitted Star Wars fan and former Tory leadership candidate Rory Stewart, on discovering that Rise of Skywalker would feature hobbits.
“But I suppose that the Rebel Alliance now only consists of, like, nine people, so they have to join forces with someone and the hobbits are as good as anyone.
“After all, they went on a big walk to drop a ring in a volcano.”
However, as the image seems to feature Monaghan wearing human shoes, other people have suggested that perhaps he could be playing a human character.
“I think that’s unlikely,” explained natural history expert David Attenborough.
“I suspect that his character in the film is a hobbit who has disguised himself as a human, possibly to infiltrate a base and steal some plans.”
The introduction of hobbits into Star Wars has left many fans with a worry, though.
“Yeah, I’m just concerned that they end up being a bunch of furry idiots who end up worshiping C3P0 as a god or something,” continued Rory Stewart.
“But surely, the Star Wars people would never do anything that rubbish.”
