Gritty new Star Wars series to be set in Croydon

Andor, the recent Star Wars show, presented a different kind of Star Wars, showing life of ordinary people in a grim, run-down corner of the universe who have been beaten down by their oppressive rulers.

Expanding on that concept, a new Star Wars series will be set in Croydon.

“It’s important to us to present all sides of the Star Wars universe,” explained Clinton Starwars, producer of the new series

“From the sleek glamourous starships of the ruling empire, to the heroism of the rebellion and then to the lives of the ordinary people whose lives are grim, difficult and unpleasant. So, Croydon seemed like the perfect to continue that theme after Andor.”

Provisionally called Dave, the new series will focus on a man called Dave, who lives in a flat near the station and is the assistant manager at the local Sainsbury’s. He is also powerfully strong in the Force but, because no one in Croydon is aware of The Force, he doesn’t know that he’s particularly special and will most likely never find out.

“That’s what we wanted to explore. This is a side of Star Wars you never see. It’s people who don’t know of the Empire, the Force, the Rebellion, or any of that. They’re just normal people trying to go about their lives and make sure that the self-service tills never get too crowded and that the bread is always well-stocked. Surely, those people in the Star Wars universe are just as interesting and important as Luke and Chewie.”

Should Dave prove successful, there are plans to follow it with Liz, about Dave’s cousin Liz who lives in Burnley, works in IT, and is a powerful Sith Lord, but has no idea.
