Robert DeNiro tries to establish once and for all if someone is talking to him. Has a pie with her off Moonlighting and then gets cross that the streets haven’t been cleaned so shaves his head and goes off and shoots Harvey Keitel.

Trivia

In preparation for the role, Robert deNiro asked people to say things and tried to work out if they were talking to him or not.

The taxi in the film is actually red, it shows up as yellow due to the use of clever lighting. Yellow cars do not show up on film.

An abandoned sequel – Bus Driver – formed the basis of 1993’s Speed.

As Jodie Foster was still a child, Martin Scorsese and Cybill Shepard had to adopt her before she was able to work in the film

Due to a casting error, the Albert Brooks character Tom, is actually played by British DJ Bruno Brookes during his first scene.
