Enemy of the State

Aw hell no, Will Smith goes to buy some pants and gets caught up with some Government bastards. It’s from the early noughties so all the baddies are computer teenagers in hoodies who type really, really fast as billions of windows appear on their screen like they’ve just clicked on a link offering women in their area who *really* want to meet them. Gene Hackman turns up and is grumpy, Will goes about in his pants for a bit and then the Government bastards get what’s coming to them.

Trivia

The Gene Hackman character, Lyle, is actually based on a previous Gene Hackman character, Lex Luther, from Superman IV: The Quest For Peace

The computers used by the rogue government team are modified Commodore 64s and one operative can even be seen playing Paradroid

The soundtrack was composed by The Vengaboys

The film was originally banned in America and Europe because the Government doesn’t want you to see the truth, man.

Bloopers

During the initial chase scene featuring Jason Lee, God can clearly be seen up in the sky, surveying all his creation.

Quotes

“Now, this is a story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down” – original introductory voiceover
