Confirmed! Avatar 3 will feature 4 musical numbers

As has long been rumoured, the upcoming Avatar 3 will feature a number of musical numbers.

“La La Land has become a big influence on the sequel,” explained director James Cameron.

“I thought that was a really special picture and I was certainly one of those people who voted for it to come second in the Oscars.

He confirmed that Avatar 3 wouldn’t be a full-blown musical, but will rather will have four ‘musical moments.’

“It’s still a sci-fi action adventure at heart but the musical moments are integral. At the start I needed to establish that time had moved on, Jake is still living with his Na’vi family, and the whole community was as strong as ever.

“Now, I think we’ve learnt from Disney films that the best way to do that is with a big musical number. So, that’s what we’ve done. An overture plays out over the titles, and then we’re into a big number as Jake dances around the Na’vi community introducing us to the new characters and places.

“It’s gorgeous, it’s a very effective way of setting the scene and it’s just catchy as hell.”

The nature of the other three numbers have not been revealed, but bookies have good odds that a big, dramatic ballad from Neytiri could give Zoe Saldana her first ever Christmas number 1 next year.

The returning Stephen Lang and Giovanni Ribisi have both, independently, been taking rapping lessens at an LA performance school but it is unknown if that is for something specific in this film.

Avatar 3 will be the first musical numbers from James Cameron since those cut from Titanic, ‘Lummie, she’s a big’un,’ ‘Paint me,’ and ‘I’m so Cold’ that were available only on the deluxe video edition.
