Smurfs: Total War to have ‘the biggest Smurf armies ever seen on PC’

Sega have announced Smurfs: Total War as the latest game in the popular franchise and promise the incredible spectacle of massive armies of Smurfs battling each other in well-known locations around the Smurf village.

“This game is epic. It’s huge. It’s got the biggest Smurf armies ever seen on PC,” said game director Kelly Grace.

“We’ve currently got five different factions of Smurfs in the game – ‘Fancy Smurfs, Brainy Smurfs, Angry Smurfs, Sexy Smurfs, and the Psychotic Violent Smurfs who, to be honest, really freak me out.

“You pick your faction and then battle the other factions for total dominance of the Smurf village.”

Ms Grace promised epic Smurf battles.

“You’ve never seen anything like it. I promise,” she continued.

“I was playing earlier and this battle started in the rain. There was that classic Total War pre-battle calm before the storm as the rain bounced off the Smurf’s little white hats.

“The battle started. A swarm of arrows flew across the battlefield and impaled a whole unit of Smurf Infantry where they stood. Then the armies charged and crashed together in the middle of the battlefield.

“The clash that followed was intense and the blue and bloody bodies of Smurfs littered the battlefield. Ultimately the winner was decided by a tactical charge at the flanks from two units of armed cavalry Smurfs I’d hidden behind a huge mushroom house.

“You’ve never seen anything like it, Total War fans will love this.”

Although the initial game will just feature different Smurf factions, more variety is promised in downloadable content.

“I can’t say too much, but I can confirm that we’re working on a Gargamel DLC. Now, as Gargamel is human-sized, he will appear in-game as a giant. Players can then control the giant Gargamel and use his powerful ‘squash’ ability to fight whole Smurf armies.”

Smurfs: Total War is set for release next year and Sega’s confidence in the title has seen them preparing both a My Little Pony: Total War and Furby: Total War for future release.
