Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett are boyfriends, then a lady rocks up with nice hair so Ben decides he wants to be her boyfriend instead. Josh is cross so when Ben goes off to get all killed be ze Germans, Josh becomes the lady’s boyfriend. Then Ben gets better and comes back and everyone is cross with everyone else, and so while America is distracted by all that, Japan bomb Pearl Harbour.

And that’s the true story of World War II.

Originally intended as a small, indie, relationship film. The budget ballooned when director Michael Bay decided to set his story on Pearl Harbour when the Japanese attack.

A rap battle between Affleck and Hartnett was filmed but cut.

After studying the history of Pearl Harbour, Michael Bay realised that if America had giant robots that turned into cars, they’d have been better prepared for the attack. That’s how the idea for Transformers came about.

Pearl Harbour is a sexual euphemism.
