Fast Five

Vin Deisel uses his powers of driving cars really fast to rob a bank. There’s a load of baffling stuff at the beginning where everyone has to steal a magic car or something. But then every goes to Brazil and it becomes brilliant. Everyone calls each other family, the Rock turns up with Wonder Woman, and it all finishes with the lads towing a massive safe through Rio in fast cars and smashing absolutely everything up. If I were you, I’d stop reading this and go and watch it.

Trivia

During the shoot, Vin Deisel and The Rock had a brief but passionate affair, and then fell out bitterly. They have recently reconciled and are hoping to marry later this year.

The plot is inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s Wild Strawberries, although Diesel claims it is not a direct remake.

Originally the role of Brian was written for British light entertainment legend Les Dennis.

Rio holds an annual Fast Five day during which the face Christ the Redeemer is changed to that of Paul Walker and some lads in fast cars tow a massive safe through town.

Bloopers

During the climatic chase through Rio, several signposts to Cardiff can be seen. This is because many car chase scenes in the franchise are filmed in Wales due to Vin Diesel’s love of leeks.
