127 Hours

Adventure man goes to do an adventure and falls down a hole. Adventure man’s arm gets all stuck so he thinks about things for a while then cuts his arm off using a kitchen knife and a carrier bag. Smarts a bit. Escapes from the hole and a helicopter comes and Sigur Ros plays and he learns a big lesson.

The film is based on the true story of when James Franco had to cut his arm off in a cave

The boulder that crushed Franco’s arm was played by chameleonic legend Meryl Streep

The triumphant Sigur Ros music that plays at the end of the film was a last-minute replacement for Paul McCartney and the Frog Chorus’s classic ‘We All Stand Together’

To help support Franco through the arduous shoot, the entire cast and crew cut their arms off in solidarity

Bloopers

Initially, it’s his left arm that’s trapped. Midway through the film, it becomes his right.

When supposedly carrying his arm with him as he escapes. A close up reveals that his bag actually contains someone’s foot.
