Fans of all things ursine were excited at the news that the bear in the Revenant that brutally mauled Leonardo DiCaprio’s character is being given it’s own TV spin-off
The show – Unbearable – will have a considerably lighter tone than that of the film and will feature the bear, now named as Barry, roaming the frozen wastes of frontier America helping other bears.
“This is really exciting,” said show-runner Danny Dinklage
“Obviously, frontier life in America has been fertile ground for TV and movies, but there has never been a frontier story from the point of view of the bears.”
Mr Dinklage was clear that this wasn’t just going to be a show solely about bears battling humans.
“No, although, that would actually be a really cool show and, you know, we will have our fair share of bears battling humans, but the real heart of this story is Barry, and what it means to be a bear at the birth of America.”
The show also promises some lighter moments.
“Oh man, we’ve got a scene with Barry helping a younger bear learn to fish that will kill you, it’s hilarious. He falls over and- well, he falls over. But it’s the way he falls over, it really is quality hilarious bear work.”
The only known casting news is that Barry will be played by Andy Serkis in his first role since he evolved actual motion-capture skin to save time.
