Taken

Liam Neeson’s daughter is the most spectacularly spoilt teenager in the world. Liam Neeson is creepily obsessed with her. She goes to Paris, the most dangerous place in the world, and gets kidnapped by evil foreigners. Liam rocks up and kills everyone. Frankly, the girl is so annoying, I reckon the kidnappers would let her go after a day or so.

Trivia

Cast and crew refused to work on location in Paris because it is the most dangerous place on the planet, so the whole shoot took place in Wyoming

The story is based on an anecdote told by a character in Proust’s À la recherche du temps perdu

The role of Bryan Mills was originally written for former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, but as she was not an actor, Liam Neeson was cast instead

To prepare for the role, Liam Neeson learnt all his lines and got a good night’s sleep

Bloopers

Although Bryan’s daughter is kidnapped in the film, in real life Paris she would have been murdered and her head displayed on a spike overlooking the Seine because that’s just how dangerous life in Europe is.

Quotes

“I have a very particular set of skills; I can cook a nice omelette, mend a tire puncture, work the video recorder, and fart the first verse of the national anthem.”
